developments in biotechnology in its Science section with fairly comprehensive
coverage of the political dimensions, especially in the UK and EU

Reference section and also produces THE BIOSPACE NEWS E-CAST, published
every business day and has a searchable index of profiles on all the major

- BioTech's
Life Science Dictionary This free resource is still very much under
construction. Currently, most of the 8300+ terms deal with biochemistry,
biotechnology, botany, cell biology and genetics. They also have some terms
relating to ecology, limnology, pharmacology, toxicology and medicine.
- The World Wide Web Virtual Library:
Biotechnology This directory covers biotechnology, pharmaceutical
development, genetic engineering, medical device development, and related
fields such as pharmacology and toxicology. It differs from Biosciences in that
Biotechnology places more emphasis on product development and the delivery of
products and services.

- GeneWatch BriefingsGeneWatch is an
independent organisation concerned with the ethics and risks of genetic
engineering. It questions how, why and whether the use of genetic technologies
should proceed and believes that the debate over genetic engineering is long
overdue.
- Genetics Forum An
independent voice on genetic engineering, produces 'Biotech magazine, Splice'
- Genetic Resources Action International
(GRAIN) Major International NGO campaigner on Genetic resources. Also
manages BIO-IPR, an irregular listserver. Its purpose is to circulate
information about recent developments in the field of intellectual property
rights related to biodiversity & associated knowledge. BIO-IPR is a
strictly non-commercial and educational service for nonprofit organisations and
individuals active in the struggle against IPRs on life. To get on the mailing
